Camping again last weekend and thankfully the weather was kind to us. We may sound like avid campers having referenced two trips in as many months. However, this was not the case a year ago when my view on shared facilities, no en suite and tents was very different! Yes, there are lots of downsides but children and dogs absolutely love the freedom of the great outdoors and we adults have grown to enjoy this pursuit. Oscar and Hooch felt their facilities doubled in size!! Our neighbouring tent felt differently…

Charmouth was charming with its stony beach that seems to be anti-dogs for the majority of the year – at least the months when you would want to sit on a beach! So instead Oscar and Hooch saw their beloved sea from a distance which was clearly very frustrating.

We returned on Sunday afternoon to a very wet Somerset before Elaine and the kids packed to make the annual trip to Scotland to see some of her family; Glasgow to visit her brother then up to Fort William to see the aunties. I would normally go but we are starting to manufacture our dog collars and leads so I have stayed to supervise. This has of course meant I have had quiet evenings where I managed to watch all of the Olympic finals without any distractions other than Oscar and Hooch sporadically climbing onto my lap!
